Get Hired: Opening Doors for Young Leaders

This May, City Year Bay Area and The King’s Trust came together to host another inspiring “Get Hired” event — a powerful reminder of what’s possible when young people are connected to opportunity.

At the heart of the event were our AmeriCorps members, who shared their stories of service, growth, and leadership in incredibly powerful ways before flipping the script and interviewing partner organizations about career pathways and opportunities. It was inspiring to see ACMs speak so confidently about their experiences and the futures they deserve.

Events like Get Hired reflect the power of partnerships and a shared commitment to creating meaningful pathways for young people. We’re deeply grateful to the organizations that joined us, including the San Francisco 49ers, JobTrain, Breakthrough Silicon Valley, Pathwise, Tech Interactive, and ServiceNow, for investing their time, insight, and opportunities into the next generation of leaders.

The work of The King’s Trust has impacted young people around the world for decades — including actor Idris Elba, who has spoken publicly about how the organization helped launch his career through a youth grant many years ago. That same spirit of belief, opportunity, and possibility was alive in the room this week.

Together, we’re continuing to build bridges between service and career success — helping young people see what’s possible and ensuring they have the support to get there.
