They’re Here! Our 2026–2027 Corps Steps Onto Campus
As of Monday, August 24th, City Year Bay Area is officially back on campus!
On Monday, CYBA AmeriCorps Members stepped into their partner schools for the very first time—and we have the pictures to prove it! (One thing you’ll notice about this cohort is they are absolutely hilarious in front of a camera).
For returning Corps Member Dennis Outhavong, the first day back brought some especially big smiles (and even bigger hugs) from students who were thrilled to see him again. City Year staffers also received warm welcomes from students.
Across all eight of our partner schools in East San José and East Palo Alto, managers are reporting a strong start. Corps Members are already building relationships with teachers and students, finding their footing and settling into the important work ahead.
This year, our vision is simple: Every partner school experiences Whole School, Whole Child support.
That means Corps Members who are well trained, well coached and connected to students every day. Schools that see City Year as a trusted and consistent partner. And impact that can be sustained by school staff and the broader school community.
Over the course of the year, we’ll be watching that work translate into measurable improvements in attendance, behavior and coursework—as well as something just as important: students’ confidence and sense of self-worth.
For now, though, we’re just excited to see those yellow jackets back where they belong.
Welcome to campus, Corps! We can’t wait to see what you do in 2026–2027.
